About Wix

Wix Homepage
Building websites is Wix’s business. Founded in 2006, it was the brainchild of Avishai Abrahami, Nadav Abrahami, and Giora Kaplan, who were in the process of creating a website for a different venture. Despite their techy credentials, they soon found building a website is difficult — not to mention time-consuming, frustrating, and expensive. So they came up with a new idea: to design a website builder that was affordable, intuitive, and enjoyable to use. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Wix has helped more than 200 million people worldwide to create a website. According to BuiltWith, it utterly dominates the “simple website builder” market, with a share of 42% — more than twice its closest rival, Squarespace.
Website Builder Market
It’s definitely an attractive niche to be dominating, with the global market for website builders expected to be worth $2.7 billion by 2026.

How Does the Wix Affiliate Program Work?

Okay, so Wix is a very big fish in a rapidly expanding pond. But how easy is it to promote Wix and make money from affiliate marketing? Let’s find out:

How to Join Wix Affiliate Program

First up, let’s clarify who’s allowed to sign up. Given that building websites is kind of integral to the company’s business model, you won’t be shocked to learn that the Wix affiliate program is aimed at website owners. So if you don’t have a website, and have no plans to create one, this isn’t the program for you. Specifically, Wix wants to work with affiliates who create content that drives high traffic volumes — things like blogs, how-to videos, tutorials, and more. And, like most affiliate programs, it doesn’t want to work with any site containing “objectionable material”, including anything that contains explicit language or support for violent or discriminatory groups. Assuming you satisfy all the necessary criteria, you can get on with creating your Wix affiliate account. It’s a pretty simple process. Start by navigating to the Wix affiliate landing page and hitting the button marked “start earning now”:
Wix Affiliate Program Signup
You’ll be asked a bunch of general information — your name, address, and contact details:
Wix Affiliate Program Info
Next, Wix asks about your website information, whether you publish abusive content, and whether you’ve been a Wix affiliate in the past:
Wix Affiliate Program Site Info
The field marked “Affiliate Name” should be auto-populated in the following format: [number]@[your website URL]. If it isn’t, Wix advises you to open a ticket with the title “Sign Up Form – Affiliate Name”. Finally, just read and agree to the terms and conditions, agree to receive emails from the Wix affiliate program, and hit “submit”. And that’s all there is to it! Provided your application is successful, you’ll receive an email containing a link to your Wix affiliate dashboard. Expect to hear a response within five business days.

What Commission Rate Does the Wix Affiliate Program Offer?

Now to the good stuff: how much money you can earn as a Wix affiliate. Wix pays a flat commission of $100 for every customer who purchases a Wix Premium package after clicking your Wix affiliate link (you can find details about all those Premium packages here). To be clear, if a Premium user cancels their free plan during the 14-day trial period, you won’t earn a commission, because Wix won’t make any money from them. Which seems fair enough. One other key point on the subject of commissions: Wix has a monthly sales target, by which you must earn at least $300 per month to get paid. All earnings will remain in your account until you reach that minimum threshold.

What Is the Wix Affiliate Program Cookie Duration?

The Wix affiliate program has a 30-day cookie window. So as long as the customers you refer convert within that period, you’ll earn a commission. Wix uses the first-click attribution model, which means if someone clicks your referral link, then later clicks a Wix affiliate link on a different website and goes on to buy, you’ll still be credited with the sale.

Which Payment Methods Are Available?

Wix only allows payments via wire transfer to your bank account. No PayPal, no Payoneer, no crypto. As long as you hit your minimum sale target of $300, you’ll receive an email around the 15th business day of the following month containing information on how to receive your commissions. That email will include all your conversions for the previous month, which you can use to send your monthly invoice. Wix affiliates are paid around 45 days from the end of each calendar month, provided you sent an invoice at least 30 days before.

Pros & Cons of the Wix Affiliate Program

Not sure what to think about the Wix affiliate program? Hopefully, these pros and cons will help you make up your mind:

Wix Affiliate Program: Pros

The Wix website builder is the best-known product in its category.

A $100 bounty payment is pretty attractive, especially given that Wix’s Premium plans start at just $4.50 per month.

Wix’s affiliate dashboard is easy to use, and contains all the information and creative materials you need to drive sales.

The 30-day cookie window is good enough, if unspectacular.

Wix Affiliate Program: Cons

The $300 monthly sales target could be demanding, especially if you’re a new affiliate marketer.

A recurring commission would be more attractive than a one-off bounty payment.

Wix offers an extremely limited range of payment options.

The invoicing process is a little niggly and it takes a long time to receive your commissions.

Should You Join the Wix Affiliate Program?

Sure, there are some things we don’t love about the Wix affiliate program. But let’s be honest: if you’re going to promote any website building service, Wix is the obvious option. It’s so well known that a lot of potential paying customers will simply convert themselves. However, as you already know, you can’t promote Wix without a website.
